He is highly adept at building high-performing teams, driving profitability, and guiding long-term corporate strategy in a highly regulated and competitive industry.

Prior to his promotion to President, Dr. Brunozzi served as Global Ordnance’s Vice President of Production & Development for the company’s Global Military Products Division. He has a lengthy background in defense and munitions and has been in leadership roles across the munitions industrial base, including Vice President for Large Caliber Ammunition, Vice President of Operations, and General Manager for the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant. He is currently the Sector Lead for the Small Business Sector of the Industrial Committee of Ammunition Producers (ICAP), a Government Business consortium focused on the munitions industrial base.

Dr. Brunozzi graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He continued his education and received his Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Rhode Island and his Ph.D. in Management of Engineering and Technology from Northcentral University. Dr. Brunozzi’s doctoral dissertation was a study of the implementation of Lean Six Sigma techniques in manufacturing operations, assessing the relationship that different leadership styles had on the success of the implementation.

Dr. Brunozzi worked as an Engineer and Program Manager at the General Dynamics Electric Boat Division in Groton, CT, as well as a Manufacturing Engineer on the Trident Nuclear Submarine Program supporting engine room and reactor plant construction activities. He was promoted to Program Manager, where he was responsible for all design development and construction activities related to the dismantlement of three Naval Land Based Nuclear Reactors. He has also worked in the manufacturing field, holding various managerial positions with Kawneer Company, a division of the Alcoa Company.

When Dr. Brunozzi became Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Summit Manufacturing in Hazleton, PA, he assumed executive leadership duties for a multiple-plant, $60 million operation manufacturing custom-engineered tubular steel structures for the wireless communications and electrical transmission industry. He obtained a United States Patent for a novel design to structurally reinforce tubular steel structures to enable wireless cell phone companies to co-locate antennae on existing tubular steel antennae structures to save cost.

Dr. Brunozzi joined Chamberlain Manufacturing Corporation as Vice President of Operations for the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant (SCAAP). With the acquisition of Chamberlain by General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), Dr. Brunozzi was named Director of Operations, Scranton Operations. Dr. Brunozzi was promoted to Director and General Manager of the Red Lion Operation, and effective April 1, 2010, he was appointed Vice President Operations and led both SCAAP and Red Lion facilities. Dr. Brunozzi became Vice President of Large Caliber Ammunition Programs and in March 2014 was promoted to Vice President & General Manager of the Large Caliber Ammunition Business Unit. Dr. Brunozzi became Vice President Munition Systems for the Munitions, Armaments and Platform Systems Strategic Business Unit.

During his career at GD-OTS working in the defense munitions industrial base, Dr. Brunozzi developed the Enhanced Strategic Plan (ESP) for Joint PEO Armaments and Ammunition Command and Joint Munitions Command to re-align production requirements and implement over $50M of Production Based Support (PBS) upgrades along with over $4M in company capital at the SCAAP. This modification allowed SCAAP to be an efficient producer of product at low volumes and provided enhanced flexibility to manufacture multiple products at low volume simultaneously.

In addition, Dr. Brunozzi was the General Manager of the GD-OTS Red Lion Operation, a company-owned facility producing metal parts for large caliber tank ammunition as well as commercial products. In this position, he led the move of a $20M commercial machining business into the Red Lion facility and fully redeveloped the facility and production support for the co-located businesses. During his tenure as Vice President and General Manager of the Large Caliber Ammunition Strategic Business Unit (SBU) for GD-OTS, he led the full system engineering and supply chain for large caliber ammunition, including the demilitarization operations in Joplin, MO. In this position, he served on the ICAP as the Sector Lead for the Demilitarization Sector. He held the position of Vice President of Munition Systems responsible for all large and medium caliber programs for GD-OTS, including the supply chains. He led the effort to overhaul the manufacturing process flow and logistics at the Marion Operations, dramatically improving on-time delivery to customer schedules and inventory accuracy.

Dr. Brunozzi also served as the Chairman of the General Dynamics Corporation Lean Six Sigma Committee, where he led efforts to identify and share manufacturing best practices across all General Dynamics Corporation businesses, including Gulfstream Aviation and three shipyards. In 2014, Dr. Brunozzi was awarded the prestigious Wilford Hosking Production Award by the Picatinny Chapter of The National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) for his significant contributions to manufacturing in the Defense Munitions Industrial Base.
